Carsten Griwodz, Simone Gasparini, Lilian Calvet, Pierre Gurdjos, Fabien Castan, Benoit Maujean, Yann Lanthony and Gregoire De Lillo have been awarded to Best Open Dataset and Software Paper Award at MMSys 21 for the publication “AliceVision Meshroom: An Open-Source 3D Reconstruction Pipeline“.

AliceVision Receives Epic MegaGrant to Boost Open-Source 3D Reconstruction
We’re thrilled to announce that AliceVision, the non-profit organization behind the open-source photogrammetry framework and Meshroom, has received an Epic MegaGrant from Epic Games!
This grant will accelerate our mission to democratize photogrammetry by improving the Multi-View Stereo (MVS) component of AliceVision—making 3D reconstruction faster, more reliable, and easier to maintain.
Our focus is on enhancing the readability and performance of the MVS code, profiling current bottlenecks, and optimizing the depth map estimation process—one of the most computationally demanding stages in 3D asset creation.
With Epic’s support, we aim to deliver a smoother, more interactive experience for creators and researchers alike, bringing high-quality 3D digitization to everyone.

We’re proud to announce the creation of AliceVision, a non-profit association dedicated to democratizing 3D digitization technologies from photographs. Based in Paris, AliceVision promotes open-source computer vision software, transparent and reproducible research, and free access to knowledge and data. By uniting researchers, developers, and artists, the association supports innovation for the common good, particularly in culture and artistic creation. AliceVision also leads the development of the AliceVision open-source software suite, empowering industry, education, and the public to explore the possibilities of 3D imaging.
